Abstraction Clinical Content Support (NP, OCN, or Clinical Nurse Specialist)


Flatiron’s mission is to serve cancer patients and our partners by dramatically improving treatment and accelerating research. Our team is building a disruptive, oncology-specific software platform that will connect cancer centers across the country on a common technology infrastructure and address key healthcare challenges. Today, the Flatiron Health OncologyCloud™ platform includes the industry-leading electronic medical record for oncology, a first-of-its-kind analytics tool, patient portal, and integrated billing management. Ultimately, our goal is to help cancer centers leverage real-world oncology data, at a scale and clinical depth never before seen, to revolutionize cancer research and transform care.

The process is carried out by Abstractors - nurses and tumor registrars who extract complex clinical insights from Electronic Health Records (EHRs). The Clinical Content Support Manager will interface with both the internal and external teams providing clinical support across multiple tumor types.

 Job description

  • Provide clinical support for content development and context of disease across the abstraction team
  • Assist with clinical content for policies and procedures that dictate the data abstraction process across multiple oncology therapeutic areas
  • Create/revise disease-based training modules to educate the clinical data abstractors
  • Provide clinical decision support for questions that arise when abstractors are reviewing cases via the review panel 
  • Provide day to day clinical support for the abstraction team (Data Analysts, QA Manager, Abstractors) where needed across multiple tumor types

You should:

  • Be a Nurse Practitioner (NP), Clinical Nurse Specialist or Oncology Certified RN (OCN) with 5+ years in oncology clinical practice, preferably medical oncology
  • Be familiar with all aspects of how cancer is treated, from diagnosis to recovery, and be fluent in cancer terminology
  • Enjoy teaching and interfacing with a multidisciplinary team
  • Have a high comfort level with technology and familiarity with EHR systems, including the ability to recommend system improvements and interact with engineering staff
  • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail 
  • Demonstrate superior organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Have excellent communication skills 
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint and Excel 
  • Be excited about the potential that Flatiron Health has to improve cancer care
