Flatiron Research was started in 2014 with the goal of serving cancer patients by accelerating research. We believe that existing clinical research paradigms are ill-equipped to answer the research questions that face drug developers, academic researchers, and regulators in the oncology space today. By focusing on technology solutions that can be deployed widely across the Flatiron network of providers, Flatiron Research has the opportunity to generate insights that were previously impossible.

Today, Flatiron Research is focused on innovating in the Real-World Evidence (RWE) space. Our technology-first approach has allowed us to build RWE data sets with higher quality, accuracy, recency, and scale than any other data set that is available. We have active partnerships with top-tier academic medical centers, 11 of the top 13 oncology biopharma companies, and the FDA, all focused on using RWE to answer critical questions quickly and safely.

The Life Sciences Partnerships team supports our biopharma partners in advancing their research priorities using RWE and other relevant Flatiron Research offerings. Our Life Sciences team is looking for brilliant Associate Principals who are excited about changing the world of oncology and healthcare. This job requires a sharp analytical mind, client management and organizational skills, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a passion for tackling one of the most complex medical and technological challenges of our time.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the lead point of contact for life science partners, ensuring that projects are meeting or exceeding client expectations, identifying additional client needs, and selling in new projects and services to meet those needs
  • Develop and manage relationships with life science partners to advance the integration of our products through demonstrated value
  • In coordination with life sciences delivery teams, ensure all existing contractual milestones are achieved
  • Collaborate and reliably share feedback from life science accounts that you manage with Flatiron’s team of product managers, engineers, business development leaders, and other cross-functional colleagues
  • Partner with Principal to execute against Flatiron’s Life Sciences sales strategy
  • Participate in new business proposal writing, develop client presentations, and tailor other client facing materials
  • Be the communication point person, including onsite representation at client meetings (anticipated travel: 20-40%)

Requirements:

  • You have a B.A. or B.S. from a top university
  • You have 4+ years experience in client-facing roles of increasing responsibility, delivering products or services to life science partners, in organizations such as  top 5 consulting firms, boutique life sciences consulting firms, healthcare IT or analytics companies
  • You have a track record of success in developing long term business relationships with life science companies in a strategic and abstract space
  • You understand the common challenges faced by healthcare providers and life sciences firms and have experience bringing about mutually beneficial solutions
  • You are flexible, have a start-up mindset, and enjoy a fast-paced environment
  • You have the ability to juggle multiple client interactions and deadlines simultaneously and the the versatility to collaborate with individuals at all levels and across various functions within life sciences firms
  • You have exceptional written and communication skills and experience owning high profile client relationships
  • You have the agility to work across teams, including business development, engineering, delivery and product management
  • You embrace use of new software applications with a command of MS Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)
  • You must be data driven, detail-oriented, proactive, self-motivated, self-directed, engaging, personable, and have a positive attitude

Bonus Points:

  • Commercial or medical oncology experience
  • You have a MS or PhD (or equivalent) in biostatistics, epidemiology, health economics or related discipline with 4+ years of work experience (excluding post doctorate) in client-facing roles of increasing responsibility, delivering products or services to life science partners
  • You have performed advanced professional analytical work in surveillance, detection, and prevention of diseases; health outcomes analyses; biostatistics; longitudinal data analyses; or other expert quantitative areas pertinent to health (which is supported by a strong publication record)
  • You can apply your outcomes research background (preferably including a focus on cancer) to support end-to-end client engagement process, including capabilities presentations, project scoping, and customer support
  • Experience working with alternative data sources (and an ability to speak to the benefits of Flatiron’s data offerings first-hand) -- e.g., claims, chart review, other EMR data
